I'd always hated coffee for as long as I could remember. It tasted harsh & bitter & I just could not understand why anyone would drink it.. willingly. When I was about ten, my dad ordered a coffee at some cafe we had gone to that day (as he always did) and on the side of his disgusting beverage was what I perceived to be a little chocolate.
"Can I have your chocolate?" I asked him eagerly, never missing an opportunity where food was involved. He told me I could have "it" with an evil gleam in his eye. About two seconds later as my teeth bit into this horrific ball of hell, I was running to the bathroom to wash out the bitter powder that coated my throat and would continue to traumatise me for the next decade (my parents tell me I'm slightly overdramatic). If you hadn't guessed, it wasn't actually a chocolate, but a coffee bean in it's purest, most evil form. From that moment on, I was determined to never drink coffee ever for as long as I lived...

Obviously though, due to the title of this blog post, that was a blatant lie to myself. Growing up, I did steer clear of the stuff though. I hated the smell of it and even every now and then when my dad would offer me to "try proper coffee now I was older" I never, once enjoyed it even slightly. I continued to utterly despise the stuff, though weirdly... I didn't mind a bit of tiramisu (thats the foodie in me). Watching TV shows and films over the years where young characters had to have their morning coffee to survive was so beyond me. It seemed addictive, irrational and expensive & how could these 16 year old girls in these TV dramas afford Starbucks triple soy mocha double shot frappacinos every single day?? I could not relate and could never imagine myself to be that kind of person- a coffee addict.

As I got older, more and more of my friends started drinking coffee, iced coffees or energy drinks, but I just couldn't get into any of them. Eventually, I started drinking tea as my mum drank it religiously. I first tried it when I was going through a bad batch of tonsillitis whilst having to perform in a school musical - not a good mix. I had always thought it just tasted like hot water, but had it with honey and found it soothing and beautiful. A good cup of tea was the solution for almost anything in my house. My mum could/would drink about 8 cups a day and that would be completely normal. She could also drink it in 45+ degree heat on a sun lounge and her father- my grandad- was the king of tea drinking. That man could drink for England and when I went and stayed with my grandparents for a few months and witnessed his machine-like tea consumption, it made complete sense why my mum was so addicted. Gradually, I cut out the honey and eventually became "that" person who met someone for "a coffee" and ordered tea... or water.

It wasn't until I moved away from the supposed "coffee continent" of Australia, to the other side of the world & got a job in a coffee shop that I finally started drinking the stuff. Even still, it probably took me a good 6-8 months for them to convince me to give coffee a chance. I literally made thousands of coffees a week for people, went home smelling of it and practically lived and breathed the stuff (thats not overdramatic- I literally breathed coffee fumes every day, worked 40+ hours a week and all my friends and even my boyfriend at the time were all employees at this coffee shop- it was literally my life). So finally, I gave in and started small with 1 shot cappuccinos. I grew to enjoy them and soon felt that morning relief after my first sip of the day, as if I'd only just properly woken up. It was like my whole body sighed of happiness, yet I still didn't feel "addicted" per say. One week I was quite ill, and read that caffeine made sinus's worse, so I just didn't drink any for 8 days straight and felt fine without it. Some days we would get so busy that I would get home at 8pm ish and realise that I hadn't had a single sip of coffee that day. Other days I would casually drink about 3 of them within an hour and feel absolutely fine (ok maybe I got slightly more annoying an hyperactive).

The point was, I was finally enjoying coffee and I finally understood that "need" for a morning coffee. I still didn't need it to function, but it definitely made me feel more human. I could drink a full strength coffee at 7pm and sleep fine, and as I said, could easily not have one some days, or a few days straight without suffering any withdrawals or even craving one. I did think it was pretty crazy to work with coffee almost every day and have it be such a big part of my life, but not drink it. So when I finally did, I guess it just made sense. I had always just liked the idea of being a coffee drinker for some reason, there was something "cool" about it to me.

Then I returned home a year or so later to a pretty big coffee shock as Australia's coffee was completely different to Englands. My 1 shot cappuccinos were swapped for lattes that were a quarter of the size to English lattes and what was even more of a shock to the system, was that I couldn't just whip one up whenever I wanted one.. I actually had to go out to a cafe and buy one :|

So that's been my coffee journey. I still couldn't imagine anything worse than downing a double espresso, I still don't feel I depend on the stuff, but I thoroughly enjoy my little lattes as a treat to myself and a little reminder of my fun-filled-yet-extremely-stressful-at-times barista life that I loved for all its up and downs. I don't think I'm a coffee addict, but I'm definitely a coffee lover, and love all the memories and experiences I have gained because of it. If you told this to 10 year old me she would surely turn her nose up and maybe even run for her life, but as impossible as it seems I have well and truely been converted and never thought I'd be saying that I love coffee.

2016 has come to an end and although it has been quite a busy year, I don't really feel like I've achieved that much. It has definitely whizzed by and felt like one of the quickest years ever!

The internet agrees that it's been quite a crappy year with stupid decisions such as Brexit, electing Trump, shooting Harambe, and tragic deaths of beloved icons such as Bowie, George Michael, Alan Rickman (I'm still recovering from Snape's death, let alone contemplating it in real life) and so many more.

But I wanted this to be a positive post so here's some AMAZING things that happened around the world in 2016:
- Child mortality and suicide rates have gone down globally!
- Scientists have had breakthroughs in chemo research and have figured out how to link robot limbs to the part of the brain that moves your body
- The ozone layer is repairing itself!
- Leonardo DiCaprio FINALLY won an oscar!!!
- The population of Tigers has increased for the first time in a 100 years and Pandas, Manatees, Sea Turtles and Humpback Whales are no longer endangered
- 93% of children worldwide learnt to read & write: the highest percentage for a year in history!
- China pledged to be completely renewable by 2020
- Global aid has increased by 7%

So yes there have been some sad times this year, but how can we say it's been the worst year ever when there have been such incredible breakthroughs happening all across the world. I saw a few people focusing on the good that 2016 brought with it and I just think that's the way we should be looking at it.

So instead of focusing on my year as an average one, I wanted to share my highlights with you!

Seeing Adele Live
I have been the biggest Adele fan girl since she released 'Chasing Pavements' however many years ago. As a teenager I cried my eyes out to 'Someone Like You' after a "break up" and one of my first performances as a singer was one of her songs. I think she's incredible and my aunty and I had her CD in the car all year round to sing/scream along with her. Seeing her live was AM-AZ-ING! She sounds just as flawless live as she does on the record and I absolutely swooned the whole performance.

Leaving a club in England at 3am to falling snow
As an Australian, my experiences with snow are very limited. Most english people and people who live in snow are very anti-snow or used to it at least. I was lucky enough to see some snow in Switzerland last year whilst travelling Europe, however I hadn't gotten to see falling snow. So one night out in early January I came out of a club at about 3am in the morning and was EXTREMELY EXCITED to see falling snow! In my slightly intoxicated, crazy state, I actually cried of happiness.

Spending my 21st in NEW YORK CITY
I have wanted to visit New York since I was a baby, and 2016 allowed me to not only visit it but to spend my 21st there! Although it was everything it was cracked up to be, I still had an incredibly surreal time there and absolutely loved it!

Meeting an amazing bunch of people
2016 brought with it some absolute keeper friends! My job introduced me to a really fun and crazy group of people who I enjoyed working and hanging out with immensely! I miss them all still but know most of them will be lifelong friends <3

Getting to know my English family
Moving to England gave me the opportunity to get to know some of my extended family who I never knew as well as I'd like to. It was lovely spending time with them, living with some of them and just being near enough to see them often.

Staying in London with my bestie
My bestie from Australia came to visit me in England and we spent 5 days up in London exploring and just catching up. It was super fun and so lovely to see her.

Brighton Birthday Trip
When I got back from New York, my boyfriend at the time surprised me with a trip to Brighton as he knew how much I was missing the beach and the ocean and although English beaches got nothing on Aussie ones, it was a really fun day spent drinking cocktails, exploring the seaside, playing arcade games on the pier, eating a lush lunch and enjoy the salty air.

Became Costa Manager
After working my butt off at Costa and putting in some ungodly hours, I somehow ended up in a position to take over temporarily as the store manager... the temporary bit lasted a while and although it killed me and was stressful and frustrating at times, I wouldn't change a thing and overall really enjoyed running the store and having my amazing little family/team to support me through it!

Bought 2 cars
Whilst in England I ended up buying a cute little car which cost me an arm and a leg in insurance, but was convenient and very handy to have in the end. It was nice to get some freedom and independence back, even though it occasionally was known to break down. When I returned to Australia however, I decided it was time to grow up and get a REAL car and purchased my first ever BRAND NEW CAR!

Winter Wonderland
Just before I was leaving England, I decided I really wanted to go to Winter Wonderland as I had gone the year before and practically died of happiness there. CHRISTMAS, food (especially christmasy food), alcohol and fairs/markets are amongst my favourite things so Winter Wonderland ticked all my boxes and I couldn't bear the thought of not squeezing in one last visit before I left. So my gal pals gathered together and very last minute a big group of us had formed and we all hopped on a train to London and had the funnest, most memorable nights.

FINALLY made it to BATH
BATH had been on my to-visit-in-England list since I arrived in 2015. Almost 2 years later I still hadn't quite made it there yet so just like Winter Wonderland, I squeezed it in on one of my last weeks and somehow convinced a very lovely (at the time) boy to take me on a day trip. It was very very rainy and wet but we still had fun and I still got to see it :)

Lovely last Bonfire/Firework night
Australia hasn't got Guy Fakes/Fireworks/Bonfire night- it's not a thing and one of my favourite things about England were the seasons. Autumn especially, and Guy Fawkes night signals the end of Autumn/the start of Winter. I also LOVE fireworks and bonfires so obviously I was really keen to do something. Another spontaneous trip (they always seem to be the best kind of trips) led me to Bicester Village with two of my close friends to watch fire works, drink hot chocolates, prosecco (not together), check out the epic bonfires, eat hot dogs bigger than our heads and freeze to death in the field. It was a perfect last bonfire night and one I will always cherish.

The J-exit
And last but not least, I returned to AUS! I have missed home a lot and getting back to this sunshine and laid back lifestyle has been lovely. I do quite miss aspects of England, but I am very glad to be back with my fam, my dog, my friends and home. Check out my full video experience of coming home on youtube :)

So overall it hasn't been quite as horrible a year as it has been made out to be. I have actually achieved quite a bit and most importantly I've had fun doing it. I honestly feel like I blinked and the year was over, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, but some amazing things were experienced and thats all you can hope for from a year at the of the day :)
Let me know some of your 2016 highlights!

J x
Hi lovely people,
Most of you might have seen the 73 questions series that VOGUE are doing on youtube where they ask a celebrity 73 questions and give you a bit of a personal insight into their lives. I've really enjoyed watching them and found the concept quite interesting and I thought I'd give it a go in blog format because a) I've been feeling a bit uninspired lately, b) It will hopefully be a bit interesting and c) it's something fun that I wouldn't usually post, so why the hell not! It's just a writing style post, and some answers will be very short and sweet and others I will probably ramble on about. Either way, I hope you enjoy :)
  1. Favourite season? I've always found this very difficult to answer because in Australia we don't really do seasons, it's either hot or cold and I've always been super keen for winter to come after a long summer, and eager to see the summer after a cold (or what I thought was a cold) winter. I love getting rugged up in the winter but I'm also a major beach person so love the summer. Since I've lived in England, however, the seasons are all so different and lovely and I think my favourite season would have to be Autumn as I've never experienced one, the colours are lovely and it's not quite cold enough you feel like you're going to die, but you can still wear cute scarves and coats and it's leading up to halloween and christmas.
  2. Do you like surprises? I LOVE them- especially when it's something someones done for me that they've put a lot of thought into and you can tell that they know me really well.
  3. Best gift you’ve ever given? I think I'm a professional present giver. I always go all out with presents for people and really put thought into them and love making little packages/boxes full of their favourite things or things I know they'll love. My best gift was probably my mums 50th birthday present which was an epic scrap book of her life. I included photos from when she was a kid, when me and my brother were kids, and from all aspects of her life. I included messages and stories from loved ones and old friends and just made it really special. I think she loved it and I loved making it for her.
  4. Best gift you’ve ever received? My 18th birthday was lovely, my mum got cupcakes made with things I loved on them and she also made me little cards with 18 memories and things about me throughout my life and it was a really thoughtful and cute gift!
  5. Best compliment you’ve ever received? It's funny how compliments are harder to remember than insults. I can remember a lot of nasty things people have said to me, but compliments, whilst lovely to hear at the time, don't always stick as solidly which is quite sad. But one that I was given that has always stuck with me because it was honestly just so lovely was when a boy said to me: "Never lose faith in yourself, you are amazing and one of a kind. My life is better for having met you".
  6. Your Favourite place in the world? Easy, home.
  7. Favourite plot twist? A book I loved when I was younger that I recently recommended to a friend who saw the plot twist coming was WE WERE LIARS and I just loved the book.

Everyone always references "getting your shit together". We talk about this as if it's a destination that we'll get to one day but I honestly don't think anyone ever actually gets it together. People may get aspects of their lives in order, they may have a fully functional loving relationship, they may have a successful career, but I don't think anyone can say they have everything 100% figured out. They may have a lot figured out but do you ever actually get to a point where you feel like your life is together? Surely that's what life is about; you figure things out and learn as you go. You make bad decisions and mess up a lot so you don't repeat the same mistakes again in the future and eventually, you learn to make good decisions and work towards things and end up with all your shit "together" (but maybe not).

I've always kind of thought of life in a timeline sort of sense, that I have to have a career in mind by 25, kids by 30, and if I get to 30 and don't have my own place or even have a boyfriend then I'll definitely go into panic mode. But that's pretty ridiculous really because there's no quota or deadline of when you need to achieve things, everyone is different and you just never know whats going to come along or who's going to come along for that matter. Everyone is on a different journey and it's absolutely FINE to go at your own pace. In my head 30 seems so far away, yet it's less than a decade away and you'd be surprised how quickly they fly by. Whilst its good to have goals and ambitions, I think at 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and even 25, it's OK to just enjoy yourself, live in the moment and have fun (maybe when you get to like 26 you should start panicking a bit...).

Whilst you're young though- who cares! You don't need a plan or set out routine of how to get your ideal life by 30. You can do whatever you want and just live each day how you want to live it. There's no rush in my most humble opinion! You have plenty of time in life to figure all that stuff out and if you want to figure it out and start working towards it at 20, then you go for it. If you find something or someone that makes you happy then chase it and don't let it go until it stops.

As a kid, I always looked at 20 something year olds and thought of them as adults, thus that they were people who had it all figured out and had their lives together. Now that I'm one of those 20 somethings however, I realise what an absolute joke that is and that we're literally just a bunch of kids stumbling round in the adult world, pretending we know whats going on and what we're doing. Whats scary is, I'm not sure that anything changes when you hit 30, or 40, or even 50. I think the adults are just as clueless as us really, and they kind of had kids and had to pretend that they knew how to adult AND how to parent. I guess you don't just wake up at 30 like BAM here's all your problems all ironed out in this nice little pile for you to deal with, congratulations you now have your shit together.

The problem is, there are a lot of expectations on you as a "20 something". I've always thought that rather than teach kids about navigation, poetry or how to find the bloody angles in triangles, maybe teach them how to pay a fine, cook a decent meal, how to vote, or actual useful adult things, so that we're not all so clueless once we finish school and are practically shoved out into the big bad world of adulthood. They don't really prepare us much at all and yet they expect us to do really well in school, go on to university and get impressive degrees and then find jobs that make us lots of money, find a partner that we can then procreate more clueless mini humans that will go on to continue the cycle...

I may be going off on a bit of tangent rant now, but the point is, I don't think its fair to expect young people to finish school and to jump into a career and get their lives in order straight away. We have to have a few years or even a decade if needed, to just have a bit of fun, and figure out what we like and what the worlds like. At the end of the day, adults aren't even proper adults. No one figures their life out easily, it takes a lot of pretending before you get anywhere close and there's no race to get to "success" or getting your shit together.

I know a 30 year old who still parties like an 18 year old every weekend, but is nearly married, has a successful career and a house. I know plenty of 24-26 year olds who still work in retail, live with their parents and go out drinking every weekend. I know a 35 year old who still has no clue what he wants to do with his life and is still travelling and loving every minute of it. I have plenty of friends who have no idea about their future but are travelling, partying, moving cities every other month and just having a ball. Friends that have graduated uni, have full time jobs/careers and are happy, those friends are rare, in fact I don't think any one comes to mind. So although that's what may be excepted, it's not overly realistic. I love the fact that our generation are a lot more open minded and have been given opportunities to be able to have these options and not to have to rush into serious life things.

I've always been a planner and wanted to have a plan for my life, but equally, I'm such a changeable, indecisive person, it always stresses me out to have to make big decisions like what career I want to do, as it seems so permanent. Even if someone drew me out a detailed life plan, I would without a doubt tear it up and do the complete opposite. A rough outline wouldn't go amiss, but I guess at the end of the day you just have to play it by ear and take each day as it comes. You really never know whats going to happen, who you're going to meet or what you're going to discover, so although you're "shit" might seem to be a bit all over the place, some day you will feel like it is together and you'll stop stressing about what might happen once you've found something that just makes sense and of course, makes you happy.

Warning: This blog post is slightly on the soppy side as emotion levels are high this week and the maintenance crew have been unable to correct and fix them. Apologies for any cringey moments, read ahead at own risk.

We all have those days where we feel a little bit on the sad side. Maybe not everything is going our way, maybe some things have happened that we didn’t expect or maybe we just feel sad for no reason or over something insignificant. It’s never a nice feeling though and life is way too short to let negative feelings bring you down. A lot of the time you can’t help feeling sad even if you know it’s over something stupid and that can be extremely frustrating. Sometimes the easiest way to deal with feeling sad is to just let it consume you, have a cry, shut yourself away and let it pass, but I’m the kind of person who likes to resolve things as soon as possible. I hate dwelling on sad feelings and letting them win.
Therefore I thought I’d share with you my top tips on “how to heal a sad soul”:

Soak It
Run a nice, relaxing bubble bath. Use some nice bath salts, bombs, creams and scents to make it extra lovely. Light some candles around the bathroom. Maybe even put on a face mask and just soak your soul until it feels ‘zen’d out and relaxed. Use a nice body scrub and spend ages scrubbing away your worries and fears. Take as long as you want and let yourself enjoy it. Leave your sad feelings in the bath water and watch them be sucked down the drain with the rest of it.

Drown It In Tea
My mother raised me to believe that tea can cure just about anything. That tea has a way of warming you from the inside and making you feel cosy and at home. Tea is even more special when it’s made for you by someone who loves you and has an even stronger, soul boosting power. Tea is the happiness liquid and some argue its good for brain power.

Feed It
Food always makes me happy. I love food. Food is always a priority. I am always thinking about what my next meal is. The better the food, the better my mood. Usually my go-to cheer up food is chocolate, but I can be equally pleased by a good fry up, a mouth watering steak with garlic mayo and crispy chips, a pepperoni pizza, bangers and mash or literally anything in between. Take me out to dinner for some life changing food and I’ll never frown again (or at least for a few hours). Food always cheers me up (unless I’ve got food poisoning then maybe skip this step). There is also no stronger feeling of happiness when I see the waiter/waitress bringing my food out at a restaurant.

Let All The Dogs Love You
How can you frown around a dog? I just don't think that's possible. Google puppies and try not smiling. Go and see some puppies and attempt to stay sad! They're like these little bundles of joy that just love you unconditionally and just want you around all the time. Their little face licks may be a bit gross but they're still full of love. They are cute and cuddly and loyal and just great! They are 1000000 times better than humans and way cuter. They have no expectations of you, they will just cuddle up with you and if you look sad they're nudge your arm or leg and give you a good old lick/kiss.

Let In The Lovely Humans

This one is a bit trickier because personally, my mood is hugely affected by other people’s actions and most of the time if I am sad it’s usually due to a shitty human. Unfortunately there have been quite a few shitty humans in my life that have done shitty things and made me a tiny bit cynical towards other humans, which is sad in itself. However, there have always been the exceptions; the lovely human beings who love me for me, put up with me day to day and never fail to cheer me up. Sometimes those lovely humans change as friends come and go, boyfriends love and leave, new people are born and some of our favourite people die. But there are always a handful of people who have your back and will be there for you in tough times. You will always (hopefully) have someone you can call in your saddest moments, and those people (by far) outshine the shitty ones. So if you're feeling sad, give someone a call, have a sleepover with your best friends, go and snuggle your boyfriend or spend some quality time with your family.

Expose It To Sunshine & Salt Water
Getting a good bit of sun on your skin is always a nice feeling. If you live in a country where the sunshine is rare and the ocean is even rarer then I feel for you. I grew up in an Australian beach town where salt water and sunshine were almost daily occurrences.  Sunshine is said to improve your serotonin levels (the bodies natural happy hormone) and boosts your immune system all whilst giving you a golden tan. There's also a thing called SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) where people get depressed in the winter due to lack of sunlight. I've also recently read a quote "the cure for anything is salt water; sweat, tears or the sea" and it makes so much sense. I've always been cheered up by the beach and the sun, a good cry or some hard work that may involve sweating. So if you can afford it and have the time, get yourself a good healthy dose of sea water and sunshine.

There are also lots of things you can do to feel temporary happiness and to distract yourself from feeling sad, but ultimately you are your own key to happiness. These things can help heal your sad soul for a while but at the end of the day only you can make yourself happy.

Recently I moved house a little further away from town, work and friends than I’ve been used to. It isn’t walkable and I don’t have a car in England so my options of transport include a bus that only runs for some of the day and only every hour, a taxi that costs more than I earn an hour or very generous lifts from my aunty and uncle. Alternatively, I’ve been staying at my friends and my boyfriend’s houses occasionally as they either live close to town or we are doing the same shifts the following day. So far it hasn’t been too bad and I’ve become a professional over night bag packer. Whether it’s because I’m planning to stay for work purposes or I just want to be prepared in case plans pop up, I have put together a bag that means I’m always ready for anything.

Toiletries

I keep all my toiletries in a big clear mac makeup bag (that I just accidentally ripped the zip off of) and I try to keep the bare minimum and very small bits and bobs because otherwise my bag becomes way too heavy. In this bag I always keep:
  •  a mini pot of coconut oil (for moisturiser)
  • a spare tooth brush (so I don’t have to swap/remember to pack it in and out of my bag all the time)
  • a deodorant stick
  • a mini hair brush & spare hair ties (I always need these)
  • some perfume
  • make up remover wipes (just easier than a cleanser or face wash)
  • a razor (because I’m the worst at remembering to shave and you just never know)
  • a pack of tissues
  • a lip balm (because my lips are always dry at night and in the morning)
  • some pain killer tablets
  • dental floss (which I haven’t used yet but I like the idea of being that type of person)
  • some emergency tampons (because better safe than sorry)

Minimalist Make Up Bag

My usual make up bag is quite large and contains make up that I haven’t used in forever but still like to just keep in there in case I feel like mixing it up one day. I also like to change up what make up I use quite often, but obviously moving around a lot I didn’t want to have to lug around a tonne of make up, so I downsized/minimalized (which is now a word). In this lil make up bag I keep the makeup I wear/use on a day to day basis:

  •  Primer
  • Liquid Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Powder Foundation
  • Eyeliner
  • Eye Brown Kit
  • Mascara
  • Blush
  • Make Up Sponge
  • Powder, Eye Shadow, Eye Brown and Blush Brushes
  • & my beloved Naked Urban Decay Eye Shadow Palette

Work Stuff

I work quite a lot and the whole idea of this over night bag and staying at people’s houses is so I can get to work. Therefore having my work stuff on me most of the time is essential. I tend to keep a few bits at work permanently so I don’t have to carry an excessive amount of things all the time like my apron, my work shoes and a bag of porridge so I can have breakfast if I’m on the early shift. I do however, have to make sure I always have a uniform and my name badge.

Clothes
For work we’re allowed to wear trousers or a black skirt and tights. I always go for the latter as it makes it easier to change into normal clothes since I can just bring a top that goes with the skirt and tights. That way I don’t have to pack too many extra clothes like jeans, I can literally just throw in a top or two depending on how many days I’ll be away for. I also tend to keep some pajama pants and a comfy top in there, spare underwear (obviously), a pair of socks, a jumper and my coat (which I’m usually wearing anyway so don’t need to pack).

Extras

My bag has a few hidden pockets and spare zippers so I stash some essential bits and bobs in there as well as my over night things including:
  • chewing gum (spearmint and usually a big tub of it)
  • an umbrella (because you almost always need that in this country)
  • my phone charger
  • headphones (incase I’m killing time somewhere and want to listen to music or watch something)
  • keys to my house and to work
  • sunglasses (which is a bit of a joke really)
  • my purse
  • a pen (or more realistically 18 pens that I can never find at home/work when I really need them)
  • a notebook/my mini diary planner (as I always like to be able to write things down when I think of them like ideas or important dates)

Other things like towels and shower stuff my friends/boyfriend let me use at their houses so it makes my bag a whole lot easier to pack and lighter to carry. I also sometimes take less things and bring my laptop since my new house is yet to be connected to the internet and so I may steal people’s wifi in order to watch the newest Game Of Thrones episode.

I never really thought it would be so easy to constantly have an overnight bag and be prepared all the time but so far so good. The key is to pack light and not to over do it. Only take things you need and try to cut down as much as possible. I didn’t want to feel like I had to say no to plans or not be able to do things because I wasn’t prepared/didn’t have anything on me so although the next step is probably going to be getting a car (because it just makes sense) until then I will continue being a little gypsy travelling between loved ones and work and everything in between.
